I would typically spend all day Sunday making these charcoal drawings. About 10 hours I'd guess. If it was not done in one day I'd keep at it all week at night after working at my job. If I had a week off I'd draw the whole week. On this day I was considering a setup and remembered a conversation I had had with a teacher at Parsons. He said the artist has to get over the fact that a clean white sheet of paper or canvas with 4 sides is already a perfect piece of art. But you have to get in there and make your own marks. It's a good and funny statement. I got out all the art supplies I had laying around and set them up on a table and placed the small white sketchbook right in the middle of it all. It looked perfect to me so I made the drawing. The Arsenal and the Nemesis.
